About
Willow Capital Management Limited is a private investment office in Hong Kong, managing the long-term capital of one family. It has no outside investors, no mandate and no redemption pressure. It does not market, publish performance or comment on holdings.
Purpose
Willow Capital has one objective: the long-term compounding of family capital. Compounding works only if it is never interrupted, so the approach is simple to state. Own assets of enduring quality, run by capable operators. Avoid permanent loss. Never be forced to sell. Then allow time to do the rest.
Principles
Every decision begins with the downside. What could be lost, and whether that loss could be absorbed, comes before what might be gained. Liquidity is held ahead of need, and nothing is owned on terms that could force a sale.
Reasoning starts from primary data, not convention. Accepted wisdom is tested before it is relied on, and every material decision is argued against before capital is committed.
In every field it enters, Willow Capital studies the best investors and operators and measures its own practice against theirs. Models, processes and assumptions are rebuilt continually. That something was done last year is no reason to do it again.
An asset is only as good as the people who run it. Willow Capital seeks out the strongest operators in each market and works with a small circle of advisers and partners who share its standards and its horizon.
Leadership
Willow Capital is led by its principal, a former SFC Responsible Officer and hedge fund founding partner with two decades in Asian markets.
